Easy Crochet Basket – Free Pattern

Easy Crochet Basket

Crochet baskets make great decor as well as storage for many things. They can be used as candle huggies, planters, and more.

You will need to know how to:

  • Crochet in the Round – Start with a circle, increase each round.
  • Waistcoat Stitch (done with a half double crochet) – waistcoat stitch is a single crochet through the center of the posts of the stitch in the previous round. I used a half double instead of a single crochet.
  • Half Double Crochet (hdc) – yo (yarn over), insert hook, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through all three loops on hook.
  • Slip Stitch (sl st) – insert hook, yarn over (yo), pull through stitch, pull through the loop on hook.
  • Increase – crochet 2 times in the same stitch.
  • Back Loops – See photo below.

A half double crochet will have 3 loops on the top of the stitch. 1 is the back loop and 3 is the front loop.

I linked all of these materials to Amazon, it is always nice to keep these on hand. You never know when you will feel crafty.
